A seagull in the winter sky framed by extremely faint red wings leaves behind a small, bluish glowing, spider looking blob. The head of the gull is dominated by a single star which excites the surrounding gas and dust clouds to glow with hard UV radiation. The small bright blob is the Duck Nebula, also known as Thor’s Helmet, which I had already photographed in February 2022. The moon fits into this large field image about 600 times. I exposed for about 16 hours over 6 nights in order to emphasize the extremely faint wings which you can hardly see in previously published images. The Seagull Nebula is about three times as far away as the famous Orion Nebula in the beautiful winter constellation Orion.
